The First National Bank of Seattle was newly created in 1882. It became "Seattle-First Nationl Bank" in 1935, "Seafirst" in 1974, and then was bought up by BankAmerica in 1983 and changed it's name to "Bank of America" in 1999.#2: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Nov 12, 2007
But I still don't get the image.
Interesting. This company is in negotiations. They haven't made any final demands yet, but they have given their initials.#3: Jan Wolter (jan) on Nov 13, 2007
Who are they negotiating with? Do they have preliminary demands? Are their initials FNBoS? Why is their logo just a random collection of blobs? Why are they newly creating a bank that was created 125 years ago?#4: m2 (mercymercy) on Nov 13, 2007
I still don't get it.
Wow Jan, now that's curiousity.. keep it up :)#5: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Nov 13, 2007
I wasn't aware that those sorts of abbreviations generally included the minor, uncapitalized words, like "the", "and" or "of".#6: Gypso (Gypso) on Nov 13, 2007 [SPOILER]

Well, "FNBS", has a prominent "BS" in it, so I was thinking they'd want to steer away from that. But then I'd think they'd also want an original name and a coherent looking logo, so what do I know? On the whole I think this bank, if it exists at all, is off to a rocky start. But what do I know? I'd have said "Fifth Third" was a goofy name for a bank too.#9: Gypso (Gypso) on Nov 14, 2007 [SPOILER]

It's a bank. The "Fifth Third Bank". Sometimes written as the "5/3" Bank. Apparently "Third Bank" merged with the "Fifth Bank" and they didn't want to call it "Third Fifth Bank" because that sounds vaguely alcoholic. Maybe it's regional if you haven't heard of it.#11: Gypso (Gypso) on Nov 14, 2007
When I lived in Texas, the place was lousy with banks. There was a different one on every corner. Some were named after the street they were on. Michigan seems to run to fewer, bigger banks, though they all still change names twice a year.
To tell the truth Jan, "Fifth Third Bank" sounds like alcohol might have been involved with its naming. That is until I read your explanation.#12: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Nov 15, 2007 [SPOILER]
I think that I should move to Michigan and become a stationer. Sounds like a lucrative location.

It looks like they printed their new logo on a pane of glass, but somebody dropped it.#20: Pam Tucker (grammypam) on Mar 23, 2023
Interesting and colorful logo. I know I'm coming to this conversation years late, but I am proud to say that the credit union I retired from still has the same name after 90 years of service. Yeah, credit unions!
