Hah, Aldège. I used to own a registered thoroughbred mare who had raced in the Finger Lakes region of NY state. She had been sired by a race horse named Thunder Puddles (!), known as Thunder, and the mare came to us with the name Sweet Thunder. We renamed her Executive Suite and called her Sweetie. We hoped to retrain her as a show horse, but she proved intractable and I eventually retired her as a brood mare and gave her away. I still have her first foal, now a 5-year-old called Chief Executive, and he is a promising show horse. Thanks for the memories.

I used to go to the race track and bet on the horses. I also used to live in a much bigger house. :(

Neat image - I especially liked the window in the background. Could not figure out what the black was - all I could like of was a fish, and that didn't fit the rest of the image. I understand why it had to be so thick, and yet wonder if it could have been made 1 dot wide. For such a small space you got in a lot of detail.

I remember shoeshines in the airports, back when I traveled for work ('80s?). Now I'm retired and only wear tennis shoes and hiking boots! I have seen empty shoeshine chairs in parts of airports that haven't yet been renovated...

I really miss the shoeshine stands. Are there ANY left anywhere?

My favorite racetrack joke: "I hope I break even today; I really need the money!"

I need the money too, Bill. I think I might have a little can of shoe polish up in a corner somewhere. Can't remember the last time I used it.
