Hah, if the original title called him Martin, that would hark back to the old TV show "My Favourite Martian", with Uncle Martin being the Martian in the show. The same actor that played Uncle Martin (Bill Bixby IIRC) played the gardener at Star Fleet Academy who helped Jean-Luc Picard t one point.
