Puzzle Description:

An old fashioned Texaco gasoline pump. The area left centre inside is representing the dollar amount,it reads $1.09,the 10 is scrolling up,the square to the right of that is the floating ball that shows gas flow.

good job! I would've guessed 1.04, but it would be so nice if gas would ever return to those prices...

Thx Kristen,I know it looks like 1.04,but you have to imagine a .10 being the next numbers scrolling up,making it $1.10 spent, not the price per gallon. :)

Nice puzzle. Finally figured out how to do some larger ones without losing the lines on the 5s or being too large for my screen ;-)

Can't say that I ever did

I think the prices are very nostalgic. There was a gas station I went to maybe 10 or 15 years ago (I think it was in Massachusetts) that was still a full service station. And, I think, at the time, the gas was a bit cheaper per gallon there.

Thx Joseph, the price of gas here in Canada is currently $1.18/litre which is smaller than a U.S, gallon, what is it in the U.S.?

I recall in W's 2000 election campaign that he said it was a disgrace that under Clinton, gas had risen to $1.80 per gallon. Around the last year of W's run, it had peaked at over $5 per gallon and the oil companies made record profits.

This was not totally unexpected, as W had made his money in oil, so it was easy to predict that oil would see record profits as surely as his VP's old company, Halliburton.

His challenger in 2000 was Al Gore, whose family money came from tobacco, so there would likely have been big money to be seen by big tobacco had he won.

W's 2004 challenger was John Kerry, whose fortune was made by marrying the Heinz57 heiress. Had he won, I wonder what that would have meant to the ketchup world?
