It looks like you missed it by a matter of months. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/787395

There's no mention of it on canadadry.com (or .ca).

Thx Joe for the link,i e-mailed Canada Dry asking if they still make it and if so is it available in Ontario.Did you ever try this stuff?,i use to love it.
#3: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 29, 2011 [SPOILER]
I never saw it. I would be interested, though, as I really like ginger.

One soda from Canada that I will never forget is Spruce Beer. That was an experience.
#4: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 29, 2011
Never heard of that one Joe,was it made by Canada Dry? I'm intrigued, doesn't really sound like you enjoyed it. Are you a Canadian,Joe?
#5: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 29, 2011 [SPOILER]
I don't remember what brand it was - I drank it over 25 years ago. We got it in Prescott in eastern Ontario while we were at a bicentennial (or some such) event.

It tasted like you were drinking a pine tree. There was no doubt what it was made of. PINE.

It wasn't disgusting, but it was overwhelming, and I wouldn't choose it as a day-to-day drink. But once every, say, twenty-five years...

Joe, Canada's centennial was 1967, which we celebrated with Montreal's Expo '67. Montreal built its Metro (subway) system for the occasion. I won't be around to mark the bicentennial in 56 years ....

I think i'll pass on the spruce drink, sounds like it might be cheaper to drink Pine Sol.:)

Funny, Aldège. Laughed out loud.

:)

I figured that it would be a bi-centennial for some municipality. I just looked up Prescott, but its bi-centennial was 2010, not 25 years ago. Maybe Kingston?

Loved solving this puzzle Aldege, good stuff! :)

Really fun solve, Aldege.

I have to admit that I was expecting a Halloween puzzle, and the image I saw was that of a turkey with its head chopped off. I was so relieved to read your description and instantly I saw the mug and a keg. So relieved. :-D

Good one, Aldege. Never heard of the beverage you reference, but we had Verner's which was like a ginger beer I guess.

Reminds me of the prohibition-era line
Lady: Did you ever drink Canada Dry?
Man: No, but I had a heck of a weekend in Montreal once.
#15: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 31, 2011 [SPOILER]
Thx Larry, funny joke.We used to and maybe still do get Verner's ginger ale here,it taste the same as Canada Dry ginger ale,but ginger beer had a different taste.:)
#16: larrry grizzard (gizzard) on Nov 2, 2011 [SPOILER]
The Verner's we had was much stronger than ginger ale, more of an amber color, and a lot more bite flavorwise, which was balanced by being sweetened more. Definitely not the same as Canada Dry (which is an excellent beverage in its own right).
#17: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Nov 2, 2011 [SPOILER]
I don't know if the Verner's here was different or not,or maybe i just don't remember,i do know that i use to like it a lot, especially on a hot summer day on ice. It was so refreshing.:)

Never had ginger beer but the keg does bring back some great memories of 'keggers' in university! Great puzzle Aldege
#19: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Nov 7, 2011
Thx Susan,i never made it to university, but i remember crashing a few keg parties, good times.:)
#20: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Nov 8, 2011 [SPOILER]
Hey everyone,i found some Ginger Beer,it's available from a company called President's Choice. It tastes just like i remember, with a real bite to it.I still like it.:)
#21: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 29, 2023 [SPOILER]
My current favorite ginger beer is Bundaberg, imported from Australia. The bite is all ginger (no nasty capsaicin snuck in to make it hot).
#22: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Oct 29, 2023 [SPOILER]
Jan would have loved that! He was a big fan of soft drinks that are very intensely gingery.
#23: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Oct 30, 2023 [SPOILER]
My absolute favorite ginger drink comes in several intensities. We discovered it when we visited Williamsburg, Virginia. Wonderful ginger drink AND wonderful, historical vacation spot! The campus of William and Mary college is right next to the well preserved historical buildings on DOG Street (Duke of Gloucester Street.) Costumes and reenactments and Ghost Tours abound! Can you tell I love this place and its entertaining way of helping us understand our history? LOL!

Anyway, the ginger pop is found at the The Cheese Shop there. It's Blenheim Ginger Ale in 12 ounce bottles...expensive, but soooo good! We actually order several six packs of it from a grocery that sells it (have only found a couple of places that sell it.) We get a winter's supply and use it as medicine for a sore throat!
#24: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 30, 2023 [SPOILER]
Yeah, we use the Bundaberg as a stomach-easer for nausea and other stomach complaints. (and also for drinking, because it is good.)
Walmart hides it in their "mixers" section rather than the regular soda aisle.
#25: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Oct 31, 2023 [SPOILER]
Thank you, Joe! I'm going to try looking there for "the good ginger ale."
#26: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Nov 3, 2023
Bundaberg's ginger beer is currently my brother's favorite drink. If you're into that sort of thing, it's also excellent when mixed with V8's Beet Ginger Lemon drink. ^_^
