I have a parakeet & my daughter has a hamster! (but she really wants a dog)#15: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Feb 23, 2008
I'm 80% cat and 20% dog person. We have one dog (Shepherd/Chow) but we used to have a Great Pyrenees and an Australian heeler. Both were wonderful. The heeler used to round up our children by nipping at their ankles -- what a great sight. The Pyrenees was to protect the barnyard animals, but he discovered hw much fun it was to chase the geese into the pond, then jump in and swim after them. The geese were not amused!! We had to give the dog away.#16: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Aug 21, 2008 [SPOILER]

We have an incredibly handsome Maine Coon. When we first got him as a kitten, his sire reminded me of an old blues singer sitting on a porch somewhere, and I told my wife this when we were tossing out names. She and I simultaneously blurted out "Rufus!" So that's his name.#22: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Aug 8, 2021
A year later we learned that the taxonomic name for Maine Coons is 'rufus lynx'
Biggest coincidence of my lifetime.
And he's the sweetest, friendliest, kindest creature I'v ever known.
His "other" name is Bob. Cuz he looks like a bobcat.#23: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 8, 2021
that's a nice bit of serendipity :)#24: Belita (belita) on Aug 22, 2023 [SPOILER]
