Thx Tom,the kids did still love it but they were a bit dissappointed that they couldn't see the water spewing from the lion, and duck heads.I've been telling our boys about all these cool things and places that i enjoyed when i was a kid,and Niki and i have taken them to a few of them, and amazingly most of these places are still there and my kids have agreed and have seen that old dad wasn't just spouting off and exaggerating, they all agree about how cool it was for me growing up.It's kind of a nice feeling.

Am i weird,it seems almost everyone i talk too about my fond memories of my childhood, says they have no fond memories of their childhood, and i came from a very big and very poor family.

I feel sorry for those people! Are the ones you've spoken to young enough that they grew up around TVs and computers, so their free time was a haze of passive entertainment?
#6: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jul 28, 2011
not all of them, but i agree with what your saying.

lmbo Tom,and your right Jota what else do you need,my best memories are about family and home.Every Sunday my aunts and uncles came to our house for diner and then they would play cards. They all took turns sitting me on their laps for good luck. When one of them would put me to bed, they pilled their coats on my feet.I use to love that.

Love the puzzle and the fond memories, Aldege.

I have lots of friends who did not have a happy childhood. Some of them suffered neglect and abuse (and survived). Some just had parents who loved them and provided the very basics, not much fun. I realize that I am in the minority of people who have lots of happy childhood memories. Some of the stories are tucked into my puzzles.

Thx Teresa, trust me i realize how fortunate i am,and i realize a lot of people were abused as kids and don't have fond memories, but my mother had a wicked temper and she laid some bad beatings on me that would be considered abuse, however i can understand the stress and worry my parents were under with so many kids, and i knew then just like i know now that my parents loved us and i always chose to remember the good stuff instead of the bad.Remembering the bad doesn't do me much good,i can't change what happened, but remembering the good stuff always makes me feel good.I'm glad you have good memories also.

Speaking of childhood memories, one of my favorite books is "The Glass Castle" - anyone read that?
#14: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jul 31, 2011
