quality: difficulty: solvability: line & color logic only
Puzzle Description:
Your adventure has just begun!
#1: annalivia (annalivia) on Jun 30, 2011 [SPOILER]
very interesting! what next?#2: Lilly Johns (LJohns315) on Jun 30, 2011
Very nice, Nights.#3: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Jun 30, 2011 [SPOILER]
I was thinking the same as Annalivia. I like adventures :)#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 30, 2011 [SPOILER]
Okay, I'm going to share my solving experience for those who might not get it, or who don't want to bother carrying it through to the end.#5: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Jun 30, 2011 [SPOILER]
I saw the pbn grid and color number clues, which was quite tedious to solve, and a funny little short guy pointing to a black number two or the letter Z. I saw blocks of black in the grid that form the number two or a Z. Since there are no black number clues, I interpreted these blocks to be dots.
So if this is an adventure, I figured I should try to solve the puzzle, but the big dots make this unsolvable.
Then I "erased" the black blocks and solved the puzzle. Voila!
Note to Aldege: You are going to have to solve this puzzle within a puzzle in order to appreciate its design.
Cute and clever, but a lot of work for the end result.
Thanks, Teresa for your comments. I went back and "solved" the puzzle. It is cute and clever.#6: NiGHTS (NiGHTS) on Jun 30, 2011
That puzzle took me 2 and a half hours to plan and design, so I'm glad it's depth is being appreciated.#7: Cindy Vargas (cinderella082675) on Jul 1, 2011
I do not understand this at all!!!! I solved it & got it right, but I just don't get it!!!!#8: NiGHTS (NiGHTS) on Jul 1, 2011
Not all things need to have obvious meanings -- that would be unrealistic and frankly boring.#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 1, 2011 [SPOILER]
Cindy, did you solve the puzzle within the image? I did it using my mouse right there on the screen. (Ignore the red dots.)#10: Liz P (lizteach) on Jul 2, 2011 [SPOILER]
It looks like he is trapped within the puzzle! The paradox could be that the puzzler has become the puzzle.
See, I thought he was holding his hands up in victory (over the Z).#11: Cindy Vargas (cinderella082675) on Jul 3, 2011 [SPOILER]
Teresa, I do not see a puzzle within the puzzle?!?!? Could you explain a little more about what you are talking about.#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 3, 2011 [SPOILER]
Cindy, first solve the regular 65x65 puzzle. This creates an image of another puzzle with a 10x10 grid. Ignore the upper left corner, and "erase" the "dots" in the grid (that form the number 2 or letter Z).#13: NiGHTS (NiGHTS) on Jul 3, 2011 [SPOILER]
Now you can either print it out and solve the 10x10 or do it right there on your screen, applying the color clues with the 10x10.
I could solve it again and do a screen shot of the final effect and upload it and post a link for you if you still don't get it, but I don't have time right now. Besides, it will be more fun if you "get it" yourself without any more help. :-)
Its a Z, not a 2. It stands for Zen.#14: Synthia McBride (synthia) on Jul 3, 2011 [SPOILER]
This is a really neat puzzle. As soon as I figured out what was going on, I couldn't wait to solve the first puzzle so that I could then solve the second.#15: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 3, 2011
Of course! I'm a little dense sometimes, but I guess we all have our moments, and as a senior citizen, I have more than a few. :-)#16: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jul 4, 2011
(prostrate) "i am not worthy..." nights, you are amazing!#17: NiGHTS (NiGHTS) on Jul 4, 2011
I will make more Zen of P.B.N. puzzles in time. They usually take quite a bit of work to contemplate and design. Paint by Numbers is so inherently meditative that I feel these "Zen" puzzles are tributes to that kind of meditation.#18: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jul 4, 2011
...which is why i do them daily.
