makes me want to pick it right up off the screen. I wonder if this is the drink from Maugham's The Razor's Edge.

I tried this once, after watching Moulin Rouge...it tastes like a really strong black licorice, which I'm not totally fond of. I mainly got it for the bottle - the liquid is bright green, and the label has this really intricate green fairy on it.

The "health concerns" are psychosis, death.

The health concerns are also overblown, considering they're from the 1800s. Absinthe was the marijuana of its day, complete with its version of "Reefer Madness".

Today, the EU (bastion of the nanny-state) says that the active ingredient of absinthe (besides the alcohol) is safe in the proportions of traditional absinthe. In fact, in order to get enough thujone to be as mentally incompetent as being drunk, you'd have to drink enough absinthe to get alcohol poisoning.

lol... EU

absinthe is (almost) available in the usa. the thujone has been filtered out. the nanny-est of the nannies, the fda, requires this even tho the eu okays the full-on artemesia presence.

i wonder, do nannies go to heaven?

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder (yes, I think of this pun each and every time I see absinthe)
#12: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 16, 2011
Shouldn't that be "absinthe makthe"...
