Puzzle Description:

In 1924,A.W. Kaney,of Chicago's WGN radio,puts the Indy 500 on the airwaves with live broadcasts and reports from the Speedway. This is a microphone era 1924.

I grew up in chgo, though some say i never have grown up, WGN was the biggie and then became a tv station. I remember that type of mic being used by the baseball announcers also.

Now were both showing our age Tom,I remember Foster Hewitt the great play by play announcer for the CBC using the same kind of mic while doing the NHL hockey games.

I don't know who he is Tom ,please enlighten me. Speaking of bricks,here's a little trivia question for everyone. Does anyone know why they call the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ,the brickyard. I'll put the answer as a spoiler in comment#5.

In 1909 Fisher and partners raise $400,000 to resurface the track with 3.2 million paving bricks. It takes 63 days to complete the job. It's been paved over several times since except for one yard at the start-finish.
