lol#4: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007
These white on black puzzles are easy but fun, they would make good puzzle for people new to the game.#5: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007
They are also good for Friday night when I am enjoying a lovely weekend beverage, which sometimes impairs my logic skilss somewhat.
Er... my spelling "skilss" also appear to be affected.#6: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 14, 2007
It's nice to know that you're being happily affected. ^>^#7: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007
Hee hee.#8: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 15, 2007
My husband and I have a little tradition; on weekend nights he'll make me a surprise beverage. Today, it's a blueberry liquor of some kind, very tasty.
Before you get the idea of some kind of wild woman, I should confess that I am a total lightweight, and can only handle one small serving a night.
And then I try to solve pbn puzzles. Because obviously, logic problems are exactly what you should attempt when you're a bit buzzed.
LOL Twillis. Sounds like a fine tradition!#9: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 23, 2007 [SPOILER]

"They" might have. But that doesn't mean everyone did.#11: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 23, 2007
Never heard of that, LV, but if everything I never heard of didn't exist, this would be a much smaller, sadder universe.#12: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 23, 2007
I'll go with JC here we can start a dating system BWPBN and AWPBN#13: Deana L (FFsWife) on Oct 26, 2007

I'm 1 month AWPBN myself. :)#14: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 23, 2007

and its all PTML -- Pre Text Messaging Lingo. (for our English scholars out there, when did "message" get to be a verb, by the way?)#22: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 24, 2007
I could be making it up...I do that sometimes.#23: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 24, 2007
Are you making THAT up?#24: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 27, 2007
Nope. That's how how do everything. I just make it up as I go.#25: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 27, 2007
I don't think Jennifer is making this up. See the wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Era#26: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 27, 2007
Yes, BCE and CE have been around for a long time as alternatives to BC and AD, and seem to be preferred by some organizations and disciplines, but "they" have not officially changed the dating system from BC/AD to BCE/CE. In fact, I don't think there is any "they" with the recognized authority to do so.
Most of the advocates of this seem to want to remove explicit references to the Christian God (AD) and savior (BC) from the dating system, but I was interested to see that one of the prominent advocates was Jehovah's Witness, which has always been especially fond of calling God (i.e., Jehovah) by name. Not sure what their reasoning is.
Does anybody else find it odd that the abbrviations are for two different languages, yet they are on the same measuring stick, as it were?#27: Jan Wolter (jan) on Sep 27, 2007 [SPOILER]

YoOlly? lol#31: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 28, 2007
or was that Yo Olly?#32: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 28, 2007
Jan, I don't think most lay persons would recognize ly as light years any more than they recognize "iff" as something other than a typo.#33: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 28, 2007
As to whether the convers. can get stupider, I would say no except for the fact everytime you think you get to that point, people with surprize you. Surprize!
well now you got me curious. if "iff" isn't a typo, what is it?#34: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 28, 2007
A math/science nerd thing. It means "if and only if".#35: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 28, 2007
Or it could just be a typo, in some cases.#36: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 28, 2007
Boy, I must be a horrible math/science nerd if I couldn't recognize that. Oh well, too much stress lately.#37: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 28, 2007
Think of a soft green meadow LV, breathe in slowly, exhale all the stress. Now repeat "I am a good math/science nerd".#38: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Sep 29, 2007
Excellent.
Thanks Gypso. I think I need a drink though...and like a week off.#39: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 29, 2007
LV, you should get a few recipes from Twillis. On weekend nights her house is buzzing! And every weekend a new surprise!#40: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Oct 1, 2007
Could you take a week off by calling in "puzzled"? You could get a note from any one of us. We'd back you up. ^>^
I would but I'm not sure my school will accept it. Now one big source of stress has passed though so I'm feeling a lot better.#41: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007
What was your one big source of stress LV? Did you say somewhere that you preferred being called LV? Or did I just make that up? Well, I'm glad that the stress has passed.#42: Jennifer Davis (LightVader) on Oct 1, 2007
Sorry that the absent note won't work. We'll have to come up with something else! :)
I had my first martial arts tournament last saturday. I get very anxious and worried ans stressed about these things.#43: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 1, 2007
Yes you did read somewhere that LV is a fine name to call me.
Have you ever noticed what stressed spelt backwords is?
As in "just" desserts? No I never have. Do you think that there's a connection?#44: m2 (mercymercy) on Oct 2, 2007
How did your tournament go? Which discipline do you study? I'm not that familiar with all the types but I do know that there are vast differences of philosophies.
Does that mean that if you eat desserts backwards you get stressed?#45: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Oct 2, 2007
Only if you throw up afterwards.#46: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Oct 2, 2007
I study Shaolin Kung Fu, it's a Chinese Martial Art. The tournament went well. I got a medal on a technicality, because there was no one else registered in my division. More women need to sign up for these things.#47: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Oct 2, 2007
Next victim, please?#48: Jennifer Davis (LightVader) on Oct 2, 2007
Yeah something like that. I also only fight with guys at my school.#49: Gypso (Gypso) on Oct 4, 2007
Congratulations LV! :D#50: Jennifer Davis (lightvader) on Oct 5, 2007
Thanks!#51: Bionerd (nieboo) on Dec 5, 2007 [SPOILER]

Oh yeah, it did pretty much die out huh? My bad.#54: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Dec 8, 2007
I think we never add a so long conversation about a so fast to resolve puzzle#55: Gypso (Gypso) on Dec 8, 2007
See what you started Sylvain? ;-)#56: Jake Griffin (jako7286) on Dec 17, 2007
I sorted the main page by comments and found this one. I just wanted to find the longest conversation, and to be a part of it :) As far as the BC/AD stuff goes, I took an Art History class a few semesters ago, and my teacher would mark us wrong if we used BC or AD rather than BCE or CE. I proved to her it wasn't an official system, and told her I would only use the BC/AD system. I ended up getting an A+ in that class :)#57: Gypso (Gypso) on Dec 18, 2007
Good for you Jake! I love how you handled yourself AND came up with an A+!!! Nicely done. :)#58: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Aug 25, 2008 [SPOILER]

You're right Adam. It was even mentioned in my History class in a public high school that He was a real person. I think it's just too confusing to switch it anyway.#60: Byrdie (byrdie) on May 10, 2009
I was going to post a comment but what could I possibly add?!#61: noodles (lhirst) on Nov 10, 2013
Martin, you could add: I have a comment! I have a comment! ;)#62: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Aug 25, 2017 [SPOILER]
Twillis, I thought you were just slurring when you said "skilss." And I think your tradition might be a good one to start in my house! :9
