Puzzle Description:

A Happy Monkey Face, slightly late for Monkey Day (see MonkeyDay.com)

While making this puzzle, I noticed that slight changes would make the puzzle completely unsolvable. Like moving the eyes just a bit closer together would leave you with a puzzle that wasn't even almost solvable. Once I solved it, I found that there was a pretty narrow bridge you had to walk to get to any distance into the puzzle.

The last eigh squares can't be solved by line-solving alone, but they do have a unique solution, so I left them be. You have to do a little trial and error, but it's only eight squares, so you can do it in your head easily enough.

The puzzle is symmetrical, so if I told you in advance that it had a unique solution, then the whole thing would be much easier.

Assuming it's symmetrical makes the puzzle quite simple.

It can be solved without assuming that though.

No, I've never participated in Monkey Day in anyway other than creating this puzzle. Though I'm amused that Monkey Day falls on my little brother's birthday.

Well that must be very convenient for sibling jokes every December 14th! You could print out the puzzle, glue it to a card and give it as gift this year. :)

From one primate to another I feel compelled to say...nice puzzle. Maybe you could override the randomness of the featured puzzles on the home page to give us all simian puzzles on Dec 14. I did an ascent of man series and I'm sure there are others. Where is monkeyboy when we need him?

I did a gorilla in my "realistic Mario" series. :)
