Jan, I don't think that I've broken any copyright laws as neither the puzzle nor the piece I stitched look like the several sources that I drew from. I've always viewed cross stitch patterns as a suggestion, not a mandate!
Would you let me know if puzzle designs loosely based on a combination of various pictures or patterns are allowed on this site? I have a bunch of piece work lying about that I would love to share as puzzles! Thanks.

Very nice, cute and fun :)

This is a charming puzzle.
I love the idea that patterns are only suggestions, I think that way too!

As far as copyright, if you combined several sources (and of course you add your own unique touches) then I'd not worry about it. If it was real close to one particular inspiration, then giving that designer credit would be a responsible thing to do.

What does all this have to do with growing old? Cause I don't want to do that with you ;) We can just stay young I think.

The Lennon/Oko title was "Grow old with me". It was on their last album, Milk and Honey which (if memory serves) was released after Lennon's death. Never heard of Prufrock. The quote is either pretty funny or very tragic. I'll take funny.

Your ex sounds like she'd be a blast at funerals. :o

Remind me not to take a road trip with you (speed limit signs).

I refer to Mercy squared.

I believe Emily Post says that all wedding gifts must be returned to the gifter in the event that the wedding is called off (whoo! that was a close one) or the marriage fails within 6 months (I totally made that part up) as long as the item(s) has not been used or monogrammed.

"The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock" by TS Eliot. Spent a semester analyzing this four page poem, don't think there is time or space (or interest, admittedly) to go too far into it here. That Engl. grad student thing again.
What if you know someone who's getting married with the same monogram as the splitting up couple? Not that that's a good way to pick friends, but it could save you time - personalized re-gifting.
And if you can't remember on your own, I'm not gonna remind you (at least not until the return trip or until I get tired of driving.)
M2, as to the flowers, to me they're kind of like eating doritos -- there's always more being made.

M2, you are a girl after my own heart! Let us grow flowers together indeed. Can't think of a better thing to do! My sweet grandma, Alice Marie, taught me at a tender age that when we pick flowers we are showing them how much we love them ("Just like people."). And the more we appreciate a flower plant, the more flowers the plant will grow. I have ever since taken it as my solemn duty to grow, pick and distribute flowers. Never underestimate the power of bearing witness to someone's life. Magic happens when you pick a flower too!

Alas M2, love is bumpy. How do we get around that?

JC, so glad you clarified who the author was. My TS Eliot is limited to "little cat feet (paws?)". Yike! Very limited.

I forget names so easily. How on earth would I remember all those initials?

You're not the type of guy who would get tired of driving (no doubt way too fast) in the middle of the desert and stop smack dab in a LIZARD sanctuary, are you?

Eliot wrote about the naming of cats, but "the fog come in on little cat feet" is Carl Sandburg.

Thank you so much Cathy! See, I really do forget names. I'm so glad you were paying attention and sorry that you needed to fix my goof. I really do appreciate it.

Speaking of names that I no doubt will forget later, what would you like to be called on this site? Your login name looks interesting... ^>^

The original context of Eliot's Prufrock in this forum wasnt' about the cat/fog imagery, but serendipitously contains this passage:

The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes,
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.

He supposedly hated Old Possums Book of Practical Cats, but it made more money than Prufrock or the WAsteland (for obvious reasons). He probably would have hated Cats the musical, too -- all the way to the bank.

Thank you for the passage JC. ^>^
