This puzzle is completely solvable by logic if you take your time.

The computer got it, which I take as a more accurate gauge of logical solvabilty than my own occasional misfiring synapses.
Gypso, this has been rolling around in the planning stage on a postit note in the back of my mind for some time. Our recent conversation just really gave me the kick in the arse to get it done. %) <-------(trying new symbols)

Thank you Judy. I agree that the puzzle is solvable with no guessing. I forgot to mention it.
J.C., you should remove those post-its before they gum up your brain.
Thanks again for the puzzle. Solving this one reminded me of doing a jigsaw puzzle- one little piece at a time. Very fun :)

My kids hang out a lot on club penguin a lot. You can become a "secret agent" there, and they have a code for secret agents which is actually a pigpen cipher in disguise.

Of course, I've known about this code since childhood, coming from a long line of Masons. That's where the last name "WOLTER" comes from (it's an anagram).

Well, not really, but the anagram works.

Izzy loves club penguin, she became a member after you told us about it on a previous comment Jan, I will tell her about the code, she will become a secret agent soon.I showed Izzy and Aiden the pigpen cipher and they were writing little notes to each other all night, they are getting so good at it so quickly that they wont need the diagrams I drew up for each of them. I think I better study it so they wont get the upper hand and they start to write things about me, they can be pretty cheecky to their old mum. :)

Any body speak Ubby-Dubby?
#13: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 7, 2007
LOL Jan! Another one for your name is wortle. I figured out the mason related anagram but admit that I got wortle from this anagram generating site (one of many!):

www.ssynth.co.uk/~gay/anagram.html

Thanks for the entertaining diversion. ^v^

What is a "wortle?"
#15: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 8, 2007
This definition was found at The Phronistery (a resource for finding unusual words)
Wortle: perforated plate through which wire is drawn to make thinner.
The other use of wortle is as a proper noun: "Dr. Wortle's School" by Anthony Trollope.

Anyone: what's the other anagram from WOLTER whose meaning is related to the masons?
#16: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 8, 2007
Trowel

Congratulations M2! *applause*
You have won a brand new mason's apron! *v*
#18: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 9, 2007
Funny, when I was younger I worked at an old folks home called Masonic home. So I have had a bit of experience with them before.
#19: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 9, 2007
With old folks? ;-)
#20: m2 (mercymercy) on Sep 9, 2007
old folks and mason jars.
#21: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 9, 2007
lol M2!

Wasn't that a blue grass band from the 70's?
#23: Gypso (Gypso) on Sep 9, 2007
How obscure was that JC? AND you were right! If you'd like to hear Mason's jar of jam go to:

http://www.myspace.com/masonsjarofjam

They sound good to me. But can you really trust a band that uses the word "groovacious" on their official web page?
#24: J.C. Anderson (jc.noserdna) on Sep 10, 2007
yes
