"Frank" would be another good name for one.

Dachshund is german for Badger Dog. They were bred in Germany to go into badger dens to chase out the badgers. So short = good. It also explains why they don't have as nice a temperament as their cuteness might suggest.

Yes Joe it is MAYER. Actually all children, dogs, and computers get my last name for some reason. But phones and dinner reservations are done in my wife's last name.

We live on the border of two states, and for the longest time my wife worked in one state and I in the other. And to our spouse's co-workers we were known as Mr(s). TheOther'sLastName.

You get tired of correcting after awhile.

Of course, that was ten years ago. We were the first on our block to have different last names. Now it's the rule rather than the exception.

As for the ancillary dependents: kid & pets have my last name; the computers will have to wait until they start earning rent money to get names.
