After the middle section is solved, look on the left side at rows 1 and 3. There are three 2 clues that need to be placed in row 1. There are two 2 clues that need to be placed in row 3. The total width in which cells can be filled is 10. Now look at how row 1 could be filled in and how this will affect row 3. There is actually only one possible way that row 1 can be filled in that does not make row 3 invalid (columns 1-2, 5-6, and 9-10). The same logic can be applied to the right on the bottom.
