It's a very basic fixed shooter arcade game. The player controls the space ship and tries to destroy all the enemies.

Like any iconic image, it's only recognizable if you've seen it elsewhere - but if you have, it's unmistakable here.

I disagree. Checkers, Monopoly and Chess are iconic games. To video/digital gamers, Galaga is definitely a classic.
