My mother was born in Missouri. She is Cherokee and always called it Mizzurraaaaa.

Are the green spots KC and StL?

My brother lives in St. Louis (non-native) and calls it Misery sometimes. I call it Miz-ZER-ree.

Is it kind of split between Democrats and Republicans? And the two cities, I guess, are green party.

Maybe s/he was going for purple?
