I tried working on this one for a few months on and off and I cannot find a good way to get to a logical solution.#2: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Nov 8, 2010
Found to require some guessing by Gator.#3: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 22, 2012 [SPOILER]
Hey Gator, can you modify this to moderate lookahead? I was able to solve it with a few instances of edge logic, particularly the 7 in C1 and the 4 in R1.#4: Gator (gator) on Aug 24, 2012 [HINT]
I like that Y is the same as the surfing gesture for "hang loose" :)
I'm going to need some more details on what you did with your edge logic. With the 7 clue I can get 6 of the 7 cells black (and R9C2 black with two-way logic). But I just get a couple of dots with the 4 clue.#5: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 24, 2012 [HINT]
Comparing the clues both ways, C1 has a 7 and C2 has a 1 and a 2. There's a 5 in R2 to attach to the 1 in C2, plus a 2 in R8 to attach to the 2 in C2, with 1s in between.
