Topic #274: Jumping to <puzzle number>

Are you as lazy as I am? When someone mentions a puzzle by number without a link, does the 5 seconds it takes to look it up on the Find Puzzles page feel like 10 seconds too long? Do you use Firefox 2/3, Internet Explorer 7/8 or Google Chrome?

I made a search bar plugin to fix all your ills! (Or at least this one.)

Go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=webpbn.com (a Mozilla site) and click on the "webpbn puzzles by #" link to automatically install the search into your search bar.

Technical info:
It will take you directly to the puzzle. It is not a substitute for the Find page.

It will only find puzzles by number. If the puzzle # does not exist or you searched on a non-number, it will load the home page.

If you do not check the []remember checkbox on your login, you will arrive at the puzzle "logged out". I strongly suggest using the "remember" in any case.

Did you know: (at least in Firefox) whichever search is the current in the search bar will show up in the right-click menu. So if puzzle 8590 is mentioned, all you need to do is select 8590 and then right-click and choose <search webpbn puzzles by # for "8590">.

Joe, I am, apparently, as lazy as you are! I installed your search bar and can't wait to use it. Very cool, thanks!

Great! It works fine on my setup, but please let me know if you have any problems.

I have made a new improved search bar plugin to soothe your soul.

Instead of jumping to the puzzle number, it brings it up on the Find Puzzles page so that you can see the info on it and even peek if you want to.

It is supported by Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, and is hosted on Mozilla's Mycroft project

Go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=webpbn.com (a Mozilla site) and click on the "webpbn puzzle info by #" link to automatically install the search into your search bar.

Technical info:
It will only find puzzles by number. If the puzzle number does not exist, you will get the Find page with no results.
***If you search on a non-number, it will search for ALL of the puzzles. That's 17,596 at the moment, so just use numbers unless you want to wait a bit.***

If you do not check the []remember checkbox on your login, you will arrive at the puzzle "logged out". I strongly suggest using the "remember" in any case.

This is for http://webpbn.com -- so if you're only logged into http://www.webpbn.com, you'll end up logged out. (this is the same for the previous one)

I've also made a few non-webpbn searchbars. If you'd like to see a list of them all: http://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?author=infrapinklizzard
