I can use edge logic on the left side (5 clue in column 4), but the 4 clue on the right side cannot be placed (although some dots can be placed). I could not find a good way to finish this one. It seems if the 4 clue in column 36 could be made a 5 clue and be made to be placed with edge logic, then this one could be solvable.
#2: Jota (jota) on Jul 1, 2010 [HINT]
I did it by placing the 5 in column 4 and then the 4 in column 36. Has this een revised?
#3: Gator (Gator) on Jul 1, 2010 [HINT]
The 4 cannot be placed without looking a lot of steps ahead.
#4: Liz P (Lizteach) on Jul 1, 2010 [HINT]
It takes looking at the possible placements of 4 in column 36, then the two 3s in column 35 to determine that only one certain placement of the 3s allows for the possibility of two in a row in column 34. But that's quite a bit of looking ahead (I did it by trial and error).

Kai you need to fix it please.
#6: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 1, 2010 [HINT]
It probably qualifies as a guess but to me it seems like common sense. There is only one place in column 36 where there are two 1s together. I used that as the center of the four and everything else fell into place.

after getting to the spot that seems to be where true logic ends i found something

both the 12 in row 15 and the 5 in row 16 cant both go to the far left in the left side section (beginning in column 14) because they would create an error in column 18
so you can narrow down where the black clues in columns 27-30 must be (each clue in those columns must be in either in row 15 or 16) which lets you place a lot of dots

similarly you can narrow down columns 19-22 a lot because either the 5 or the 12 clue must extend at least partially to the left (columns 19-22)

New version published by conzick.

I fixed it. Although i think it was solvable with advanced edge logic. but this is a well-known question: what is solvable and what is guessing. every puzzle with one solution is solvable without guessing.
