The checker marked this as solvable with logic alone, which I think means only a combination of line logic and color logic. However, I needed some (internal) edge logic to finish it.

Quite a bit can be done with color logic.

When I got stuck ( http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV7nNUJ ), I had to look at the black in 3 in r27. Due to color logic (in c16), it could only go in three places. Since all the columns (except 8)only have a black 1 at the bottom, there is only one place that 3 could fit while allowing the other columns to mesh with the other black 3s in the bottom rows.

(IOW, it can't be in c12-14 or c13-15 as that would leave only 1 or 2 empty columns to its right. Since there are only black 3s in the bottom rows, no blacks would fit in those columns. But there must be, so r27's black 3 must be in c17-19.)

Pretty much the same thing happens with r28 then. Color logic determines that its black 3 must be somewhere within c12-16. If it's on the left, there isn't space to the right for another black 3 to provide for the black 1s in the columns, so it must be all the way to the right.

Color logic will then extend the black 2 in c8 down to r30, and then line logic will finish it.

PS If anyone can see a color/line logic way to continue from my picture, please share!

in column 3 you are missing 2 blue clues out of your 22
simple color logic tells you they both cant go up and they both cant go down
great solve
keep them coming

Duh! I knew I was missing something. Thanks!

your not missing anything, Joe, keep em up

Very nice - challenging but still doable (is doable a word?)
#7: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jun 6, 2010
challenging yes. fun solve.
#8: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jun 6, 2010
i've used that word, Susan :D
#9: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 6, 2010
Thanks, all.

And Susan, using that word has been doable since Middle English according to the OED. :)

I used the fact that I knew the 3 clues in rows 1 and 30 had to be directly beneath the blue clues in rows 2 and 29, respectively. This allowed me to get a lot more dots and to a solution.

Cool. I used that as a (necessary) solving technique on my #9072: Commuter, but I didn't think of it here.

Tricky, but lots of fun!

Very tough with multiple guesses at the end. Good illustration.
