Puzzle Description:

The Water Bird, or Peyote Bird. Generally depicted as red for fire and blue for water. I had to leave out one color and red just looks cooler. Or should I say, "hot".

The Peyote/Water Bird is not a Southwest tradition, but one of the Plains Indians. The Peyote Bird is connected with lightning, thunder and visions. Those who dream of the thunder beings will become Heyokas, those who do things backwards, upside down, or opposite. This is a Lakota way of being. It is part of the medicine of the Heyoka to remind us that we should not take ourselves too seriously - that's why Heyoka is often translated as the "sacred clown".

It was a realatively easy solve - just a bit tedious. Nice image. I think I would like the blue added - easier on the eyes.

Ditto #4 on the "tedious" solve.

Found to be logically solvable by Gator.

nice image and a good solve...yes, a bit tedious, but that's ok. ;)

I didn't find it tedious at all. I liked it a lot. Maybe all that red wears people down.

I think in the original, EVERYTHING that is now white would have been blue. Now, THAT would be tedious.

I've sometimes thought it would be nice if there was an option to have the "background" color be something other than white. I think it would be confusing though.

Nice!

I thought it was very interesting to solve. I saw the wing and was looking for an Esheresque fish-bird combo. This image is nice - cool and hot! :-) My son John is Lakota Sioux. I will have to tell him about this. He helps me to not take life or myself too seriously. He is very much like the Sacred Clown.

Posting these puzzles on the home page is a great idea of Jan's. I enjoyed solving this one very much. Plus I loved what I learned.

Thanks, Norma. It's nice to see some of my old ones showing up again.
