The top of South tower of the Astoria Narrows Bridge over the Columbia River.

#1: Byrdie (byrdie) on Feb 25, 2010 [SPOILER]

From a photo my younger brother took. Until recently, he was a deck hand on a pilot boat serving the bar crossing, one of the most dangerous in the world. I purchased a print of the photo from him and have it here in my living room. Unfortunately, he just took his website down or I'd publish a link to this beautiful sunset picture. In the picture, you're facing West looking at a sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

It looks beautiful -- I'll have to add that to my ever-growing list of places to visit some time in my life!

Very neat image. I thought it was a ferris wheel, or an oil derek while I was working the puzzle.

I was wondering what this was, and hoping there would be an explanation or a link.

I've been there. It's an impressive bridge. Nice idea for a puzzle.

Thanks! I hand drew it and then filled in the bits to make it solvable. Not the best way to do it but it worked.

Fancie - I envy you. I'd like to go there. He also took some great pictures of the St. John's Bridge (I think it might be in Portland?), one of which was made into a poster.

My dad was a civil engineering technician, so many of our vacations featured interesting bridges. Of course he always wanted to photograph them, which led to some strange driving experiences and parking violations. Actually, just about everything about our vacations was unusual.
