Puzzle Description:
Colonel (Sanders) and Kernel (yes that's popcorn). Did this make you hungry?
#1: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 10, 2009 [SPOILER]
I've never had KFC fried popcorn chicken. But here's the recipe, if you want to make it at home yourself:#2: Jane Doe (telly) on Dec 12, 2009

Very nice image! One of the best of the series so far. :)#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 12, 2009
I disagree with #2... this is THE best in the series. I guess I saw things differently from others (comments in the 26th in your series).#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 12, 2009
Thanks, both of you. This was a difficult one for me to create, on both sides.#5: Jota (jota) on Dec 12, 2009 [SPOILER]
Lots of fun! Thanks! I knew it was going to be the Colonel, but kept thinking chicken and could not figure out what it had to do with "mashed potatoes" "Ice cream" ...#6: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 12, 2009 [SPOILER]
:-D Here's the Swedish Chef making popcorn:#7: Gator (Gator) on Dec 17, 2009

This was a great puzzle to solve. :)#8: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 17, 2009
Hey, thanks, Gator.#9: gregg licht (lgreg) on Dec 19, 2009 [SPOILER]
I guessed it was the colonel early on because of the great choice of colors. Very nice artwork and a fun one to solve.#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 19, 2009
Thanks, Gregg. Good to see you here again. Are you inspired yet to create some more little B&W puzzles for us?#11: gregg licht (lgreg) on Dec 19, 2009
I hope to...often I plan on creating something but get diverted to solving a new puzzle that appears.#12: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Dec 25, 2009
Loved it! Very clear images.#13: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 25, 2009
Thanks.#14: Sallie Wilbur (sarriemom) on Dec 30, 2009 [SPOILER]
Excellent puzzle, Teresa! This was my favorite so far, and the first one I was able to guess halfway through. Both the colonel and the kernel are spot on!#15: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 30, 2009
Thanks, Sallie.#16: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Nov 14, 2010
i agree with the others about how good this is#17: Teresa K (fasstar) on Nov 14, 2010
excellent job
Thanks, Bugaboo.#18: Diana W (aeris) on Apr 16, 2011 [SPOILER]
I saw the colonel early on, but I kept expecting a kernel of (unpopped) corn on the right. The red really helped with recognizing the colonel. Nice job.#19: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jun 2, 2011
this is perfect. and now it's my favorite so far in this series. really fun!!!#20: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on May 25, 2013
recognized it early on...great job, Teresa! and yes, I'm damn hungry!#21: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Nov 23, 2017
Yeah, instead of homophones, it makes me think of popcorn chicken.#22: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Nov 23, 2017
Sorry, double post.#23: CB Paul (cbpaul) on Aug 26, 2019 [SPOILER]
[not looking at previous comment...]#24: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 29, 2019
With ca.2/3 of the left done and a circle and partial curve on the right...
The left looks like the KFC guy, Colonel Sanders. So colonel, kernel?
We'll see...
So far, so good, CB.#25: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Dec 29, 2023 [HINT]
Cool food-based homophones. One of my favorites of this nice series.
While it may be simpler to use edge logic on the 6 in R22, here's another way. This was a bit tough for me and the helper didn't figure everything out.
Color logic on the 5 in C17. Red at C22R7. Red at C19R8. Black at C28R7. Dot at C26R8.
R11C32/34 are dots. So's R11C31.
