Puzzle Description:

Good gravy to pour all over the turkey. Time to get high on tryptophan. This is my silver gravy boat, part of our family holiday tradition of dressing up the table with the fancy dishes.

Good one! I thought this was a boat-but of the viking variety for the longest time and then I was sure it was a bird! Thanks for the surprise!

Thanks for your entry Teresa, very "tasteful".
#3: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 22, 2009 [SPOILER]
There are some great artists on this site. I make my stabs and sometimes come up with something good but never quite get this kind of quality. This is very nice!

And now I'm hungry ...

Very original image with great memories.

great image it remind me of Alladin's lamp a little bit but the gravy inside is probably more tasteful than an arabic genie voice by Robin Williams....lol

:-D Thanks, all.

I love gravy, and I pour it over everything. Regular gravy is not all that healthy for you, so I make mine low fat. My secret is to pour the pan drippings into a measuring cup and put it in the freezer for 5 minutes, to let the fat rise to the top. Then I can skim off the grease and discard that bad stuff and use the good stuff that's left to make the gravy, using non-fat milk. It tastes just as good and no guilt!

Wow, beautifully rendered, Teresa! And I might have to try your secret for the gravy this year, too. :-)

Thanks. I tried to make it look shiny.

I figured it would be related to the turkey somehow, based on the title. In fact, I thought I was solving a turkey until I got the handle done. Although I was thinking, "the platter looks awkward."

Great job.

Thanks, Adam.

We had lasagna for Thanksgiving, and I can barely keep my eyes open... suppose lasagna is high in tryptophan too? :)
#12: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Nov 26, 2009
Not a very traditional Thanksgiving meal, but to each his/her own.
#13: Deana L (FFsWife) on Nov 26, 2009
traditional for us...
#14: Jota (jota) on Nov 26, 2009
As long as you enjoyed it D, I'm happy!

I heard that it's traditional for Italian Americans to have lasagne for Thanksgiving...so Deana, are you of Italian background?
I've been solving this one on and off tonight and so I forgot the title and thought I was solving some kind of bird, like a quail, until I got near the end.
Great image!
#16: Deana L (FFsWife) on Dec 15, 2009
Nope, not Italian... very Heinz 57.
#17: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 15, 2009
Thanks, Telly.

First I thought it was a teacup, and then I thought it was Aladdin's lamp.

Actually, the main thing that makes you sleepy after Thanksgiving is eating a big meal, not the tryptophan. You'd have to eat a lot more for it to really have an effect.

Lovely gravy boat, we have one similar to it that we use on holidays. Do you have any other traditions you'd like to share?
