Puzzle Description:

The great green room in "Goodnight Moon," the classic children's bedtime storybook by Margaret Wise Brown. Can you see the picture of the cow jumping over the moon? Bunny is fast asleep in bed, and Old Lady is in the study playing on webpbn.com.

This book was published in 1947. I'll bet almost everybody here remembers this from their childhood:

Goodnight room.
Goodnight moon.
Goodnight cow jumping over the moon.

Goodnight stars.
Goodnight air.
Goodnight noises everywhere.

I recognized it almost right away! I never actually had this book growing up—but I have read it to both my boys many times.

Ok. I see the window/moon in the upper left corner, and the picture in the upper right. I see a rocking chair in the lower left corner, and a fireplace on the right. I see a cat in the middle, and a rug in the bottom right corner. Is that all correct?

That's what I see too Adam. I agree that it is quite recognizable. :) Good job.
I like the words to this book better than it's illustrations, but, it is a classic.

That's right, Adam. It's not exactly the same as the illustration.

I agree, Telly, the words are wonderful:

In the great green room
there was a telephone
And a red balloon
And a picture of--

The cow jumping over the moon

and there were three little bears, sitting on chairs

and two little kittens and a pair of mittens

and a little toy house and a young mouse

and a comb and a brush and bowl full of mush

and a quiet old lady who was whispering "hush"

Thanks for your entry Teresa! (Love the cat)

Thanks, Jota. I think he is waiting for the mouse.

Adam, do you have kids? If so, do you (have to) read this book?
#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 23, 2009
I might read it someday. :-)

The best thing about the illustrations is looking for the mouse on every page! We have a newer version called Good Night Bush-it is very funny!

Didn't have this one as a child. We had a collection of stories called "Under the Green Umbrella" instead. Brings back memories. I think I'd like to find a copy of that again even though I don't and won't have kids.

We also had a book read to us in school called "The Pushcart Wars." I checked and that one's out of print but I'd love to find a copy of that one as well.

Byrdie: the second one is available thru Amazon for $6.99

My favorite storybook was one I borrowed from the library to read to my two adopted kids just before my birth son was born. It was called "Moon Walker" and was about a little boy with a new baby brother. The baby in the book was named Christopher, which was the name I had already picked out for my baby. I could never find the book after that. The book was published long before Michael Jackson did the moon walk. Since I couldn't find that book, I did a puzzle of this moon storybook instead.
