Puzzle Description:
Winged Victory - The hood ornament from a Rolls Royce Phantom.
#1: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 28, 2009 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Getting the shadows on this was tough. The image is angled with the head slightly toward the viewer.#2: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 28, 2009 [SPOILER]
This is what it is supposed to look like:#3: Jota (jota) on Jul 28, 2009 [SPOILER]

Can anyone else see a headless mountain climber pulling some rope at the top (facing up and to the left)?
Thanks for your entry "Big Bird"!#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 28, 2009 [SPOILER]
Ah! The Spirit of Ecstasy!
Adam: All I could see at the beginner was the climber.
Wow, Martin, that was a very challenging puzzle! For me anyway. Fun to finally solve. What a nice fantasy. :-)#5: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 28, 2009
Adam, I definitely saw the mountain climber! There was no image at the link you shared, but I found one here:

Jota, I think you are correct, it is called the Spirit of Ecstasy. I think Winged Victory is a little different.

Can anyone else NOT see the image in the link I posted? It worked fine for me.#6: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jul 28, 2009
Both links work form me.#7: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 29, 2009 [SPOILER]
Adam's link didn't work for me either.#8: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 29, 2009
Here's the link to the actual image I used except I flopped it:
http://www.seriouswheels.com/2004/2004-Rolls-Royce-Phantom-Spirit-of-Ecstasy.htm
Sorry - didn't import as a link for me and you're right, they're calling it the "Spirit of Ecstasy." Funny, growing up I'd always heard it called "Winged Victory." I'd go edit the description but that would put the comments off topic.
Thanks for the compliment, Teresa.
I'm having a day. When I go back and review it's a link now.#9: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 29, 2009
LOL#10: Jota (jota) on Aug 2, 2009
Robyn, how does it feel to be on top of Teresa?#11: Byrdie (byrdie) on Aug 2, 2009
I'm not going to go all the places I could with that comment except to ask if you really meant to post it on my puzzle? <smile>#12: Robyn Broyles (ginkgo100) on Aug 5, 2009
I'm sure I have no idea, Jota.#13: Jota (jota) on Aug 5, 2009
OMG What a mess! I meant to write Byrdie and wrote Robyn! And nice Teresa has remained silent! I'm a nut case.#14: Byrdie (byrdie) on Aug 5, 2009
Ditto# 12 ...#15: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 5, 2009
I didn't say anything because I have no idea what you are talking about, Jota. :-) But what an intriguing question.#16: Robyn Broyles (ginkgo100) on Aug 5, 2009
Oh, now I get it. You are referring to the Weekly Contest. Robyn on top, me on the bottom, and Martin in the middle! Hilarious. If you ask me, I like all positions, and am happy to be in the company of winners!! Woo hoo!!!
Hm. Well, I'll ignore the innuendos, since it's getting awfully complicated. I'll just say that having won just one WCP, and participated in just 2, it remains to be seen whether I'm really in their league, or if this win was just a fluke!#17: Jota (jota) on Aug 5, 2009
"Chappeau" to you 3.#18: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 6, 2009
At first I was confused. I wondered - Why is Jota telling us a word that means a funny looking hat. Then I looked it up and learned this is a French expression of appreciation or respect or "Wow!" So...#19: Byrdie (byrdie) on Aug 6, 2009
"Merci" to you, Jota. :-)
Hats off!#20: Jota (jota) on Aug 6, 2009
I love U guys!#21: Mikey (Nuggy) on Aug 6, 2009 [SPOILER]
I too saw the mountain climber. At first. You dream of a Rolls Royce? Heck, give me a black Cadillac Escalade like the one from the Matrix and I'll be happy. :)#22: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Aug 6, 2009
Good puzzle from a difficulty standpoint.
Adam's link doesn't work for me either... comes up with a 404 error (page not found).
Sorry, all those of you who couldn't see my link.#23: Byrdie (byrdie) on Aug 7, 2009 [SPOILER]
Yup, since I was a little kid I've dreamed of owning a Rolls, preferably a bonafide one with right hand drive. One with a separated driver's compartment wouldn't get turned down either.#24: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Aug 3, 2011
Escalade, Avalanche, what's the differece besides leather and a grill? I could make for you an Escalade ... (inside joke).
i had no idea what this was supposed to be#25: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Nov 20, 2016
thank goodness for the links (they all worked for me)
I agree with Adam. It looks like a headless climber. I can't see the image it is supposed to be.#26: Byrdie (byrdie) on Nov 25, 2016 [SPOILER]
Climber or ornament, I'm just glad some are still getting enjoyment out of this puzzle.#27: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Sep 21, 2017 [SPOILER]
I see both, but the headless climber comes in much clearer. lol. The reference picture was absolutely necessary. You can imagine that in 2017 when there are no more WCPs, I thought the challenge was to make a puzzle about something you saw in your dream, and boy did I think you had a strange one. I'd've considered it a nightmare to see a headless anything in a dream!#28: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Dec 1, 2018
Can't see it.
