Puzzle Description:

...By Stan, his pet tortoise, who also wanted to come.

That is quite a pet - Stan must have great stamina. The puzzle made me smile. Thanks.

Cute! :-)

Very cute.

But I'm guessing that you started out to draw Peter's dog or some such, and it turned into a turtle by accident.

If so, it's a happy accident. I knew at first glance that it was a turtle climbing a hill, and with a small puzzle size like this, it's no small trick to make such an odd subject so recognizable.

Poor thing! I don't think he'll get there in time for the picnic.
#5: Naomi Millar (sailormewtwo) on Apr 29, 2009 [SPOILER]
It really does look like a turtle :D
#6: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Apr 29, 2009
Very cute and unexpected.
#7: Twillis (twillis) on Apr 29, 2009
Very impressed how much character you packed into a small space, thank you, that was fun.

I love this...but don't you think it's the classic "tortoise and the hare"?

Lol...I never look at the explanation until I guess what it might be first. With the title I assumed the author was being clever with Peter (a rabbit or hare) being followed by the plodding and ultimately victorious tortoise!

A gem of a small puzzle...although the decimist in me doesn't usually like the puzzles with "odd numbers" such as 9x14.

:o)

#3, I actually wanted to make a very small human, but it turned into a turtle, so I decided to make Peter in a bigger one.

Ditto #3. I recognized it imediately and smiled.

Really cute puzzle. :-)

I can see a person. I think if you change the horizontal row of 9 to a row of 8 and maybe the horizontal 4,3 to a 4,2, it would be a person.
#13: Jane Doe (telly) on Jun 11, 2009
fun. :)

Maybe he's slow on purpose because Peter's serving turtle soup.
#15: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on May 3, 2014
It is all uphill for Stan.
#16: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Feb 23, 2018
Okay, it's been 9 years ... think he's made it there yet?
#17: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Apr 23, 2020
If not after 9 maybe now? Next Tuesday will be 11 years :P
#18: Jota (jota) on Apr 23, 2020
LOL

JoDeen - I like the word "decimist." I think there are lots of them here!
