In 2004, Yanni received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota, where Margaret Carlson, University of Minnesota Alumni Association CEO said, "Yanni is a rare artist, whose unique music defies borders and boundaries and speaks to people of all races and nations."#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on Apr 22, 2009 [SPOILER]
Listen to him speak and perform at the Taj Mahal in India:

Even if you don't like his music, listen to what he says before he plays this piece called "Nostalgia."#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Apr 22, 2009

Excellent work. Very good likeness, and very fun to solve. I gave this puzzle a 5 on quality. I am sorry that it will get bumped down lower, though, now that Jan will start getting rid of the extreme ratings.#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Apr 22, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks. It's very difficult to make a portrait in a 40x40 grid. But his heavy brows and mustache are a perfect fit for a pixel puzzle. Here is the photo I used:#5: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Apr 22, 2009

He looks very different now that he has cut his hair, shaved his face, and aged about 10 years. But still a beautiful man!

Wow. I hadn't seen that recent picture of him. Way different!#6: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Apr 22, 2009 [SPOILER]
Yay, Yanni! I love his music, and the likeness is very good.#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Apr 22, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Meg. My son Chris, who never nad a music lesson (self-taught just like Yanni) learned to read music just so he could play Yanni's music. When Chris still lived at home, I would get my very own "Yanni" concerts in my living room on a daily basis. Then Chris began to compose his own music. I call him my own little Yanni. What do you think?#8: Jota (jota) on Apr 22, 2009

Thanks, Jota. There are lots of really great entries this week!#10: Jane Doe (telly) on May 13, 2009
I just got done watching a tape of Larry King interviewing Yanni a few years ago. He said, "Creating is one of the most powerful, deliberate acts a human being can do." On his Tribute tour, he said, "The planet is very small. It is becoming extremely important that we learn to accept one another, particularly at least to tolerate one another."
great likeness! fun solve. :)#11: Teresa K (fasstar) on May 14, 2009
