Puzzle Description:

I drew this mantis based on what I remembered from my childhood. However, according to National Geographic, praying mantises grow - on average - up to six inches long. That makes this one a giant at 7 inches (measured on my screen, and adding in the bit I didn't draw). I throw myself on the mercy of the judges with regards to whether this puzzle qualifies or not. :-)

I think it should count. Nice image.

Amazing! Great work (as always). I have yet to see a poor or even mediocre puzzle at worst from you.

great image its sure in, but I don't want to be the poor male "she" will encounter... :-)
#4: Jota (jota) on Jan 15, 2009 [HINT]
It's beautiful and, as with most bugs, to me they always appear bigger than they are, so who knows.

If it's that big, it's scary! Beautiful though, and I think it should count!

Such a lovely image. One of my favorite insects and I still get excited when I find one.

Thanks

Wonderful! And on my screen it is exactly 6 inches!

Wow - I wish I had your memory. This is really complex.

Oh, I did look at several photos as well. Otherwise I might have attached the legs in the wrong place, or something. By "memory" I only meant the size of the bug.

I'm so glad everyone likes my mantis! I've always loved them, especially the way they're so absolutely still - it's like looking for a hidden picture. One minute you're just looking at a bunch of leaves and twigs and the next minute you realize the "plant" is looking right back at you!

Very fun to solve and great pic!

Thanks Meg, it's been a little while since I heard that.

What's that? OH! You were talking about the mantis.

Great image and wonderful to solve. I knew what it would be about 1/3 of the way through and I was still pleased with the outcome. Solved fairly quickly for me so that was a plus as well.
