Cool solve!

OK, I had some curves in the lower right, then shifted to complete the top bit. When I saw the shape of the top, I thought, "an octopus with 10 arms?" (Or maybe some weird light bulb?) (But wouldn't that be red, maybe blue, instead of green?) (But I digress...) Then I got alot more of the bottom done, and saw that the number of arms could not be clearly distinguished. THEN, FINALLY, I finished and saw your answer.

Well, of course. If you'd put the ellipsis after the name of the puzzle, that would have been another clue. Maybe that's why you didn't?

Anyhow, another fun one from Joe IPL.

The title was to produce the cognitive dissonance between ten and eight. After all, shouldn't octopuses have eightacles?

Again and again I find I love how you transform an idea into a visual. All of us creators have a distinct art style; indeed, every artist does. I admire your particular style. The non-distinct tentacles look spectacular. The picture has a lot of depth.

Thanks, Aurelian, but I must point out that I draw very few of my puzzles from scratch. The vast majority (with this one included) are adapted from pictures I find online. Then they are cropped, resized, recolored to our palette, and then tweaked to make them solve well.

So you see my visual style, since I pick pictures that I like, but I hesitate to call it my art style.

Then let me say I like how you translate the pictures you like into pixel art. Really, how many of us creators never use any reference pictures and conceptualize everything from our heads? I know I don't.

Tell me, is Monet disqualified from being an artist because he painted exactly what he saw into a stylized version? Or Van Gogh's still lifes: should they be taken down from museum walls as considered inferior to the real thing? They're only painted images on canvas and don't compare to the original flowers, afterall.

I recognize that you make the point that your puzzles come out the way they do because of the limitations of the site, but I still see distinct styles from every puzzle maker. Kristen, Norma, Brian, Aldege, and so many others have consistent, distinct telltale looks to their puzzles because of how they translate their inspiration.

I maintain that it's your style, just in a particular medium. On pencil and paper or digital mediums, I'm sure this octopus would come out vastly different, but it would still have your distinct visual preferences that would be easy to pinpoint.

And I still say they have been looking really good. ^-^
