Puzzle Description:

Female perturbs male with outrageous insult. -- See comment 1

The description is a clue to the subject using cryptic crossword clue rules.

Every cryptic clue is made up of two parts; a definition, and a literal description of the answer using wordplay. They can be in either order (though not intertwined) and there is no separation between them.

Here is a page describing some of the techniques:

After LL nearly finishes it, there are two ways to continue.

traditional:
EL 1 c5: if it were to go anywhere but r14, it would create a conflict in c3.

summing:
The row clues say there are three more pixels to be placed. The column clues say there are one plus a blot.
Therefore the blot needs to be two pixels longer.

Flame (F for Female + anagram of male)

Love these combos of two of my favourite puzzle types.

2 for 2 for AuntieH!

Great image Joe!

You did it again, Heather!

For cryptic beginners,
This is a charade clue with an anagram
Female ("f")
perturbs male (anagram of male = "lame")
with (link)
outrageous insult (definition)

It sure does look like a flame and that what I thought the image was, but I brain went in a different direction. When I read "outrageous insult" I saw the center bottom as someone giving the finger. And I thought of Fickle Finger of Fate, since men can be quite perturbed when a woman seems fickle. Darn. Of course now I can see what it means. (✬‿✬) Really fun solve, btw.
