Well, when the Mona Lisa was stolen in 1911, the police questioned Picasso. He wasn't really a suspect though. He'd previously purchased some sculptures that had turned out to have been stolen from the Louvre. Picasso had returned them anonymously, hoping to avoid bad publicity, but the police traced them back to him. Or maybe this Mona Lisa just looks a bit like Picasso might have had a hand in her.

On one of the Marilyn Monroe puzzles, there is a comment about how very few women are recognizable in pixel form, but many men are.
