I've got a set of dart flights that are similar...except the the eyes are a greenish-yellow coloration. they're cool!

what's wild is I can zip through a set of flights in a weekend if I've got tourneys. I've had these for 10+ years.. couldn't bring myself to use/destroy em :)

Hey Kurt, didn't know you were into darts! What do you throw? I don't play as often as I used to and have whittled my sets down to two depending on my mood...
Red Dragon Sidewinder (usually with short alum shafts)
Bottelsen Kick Ass (usually with long wire-style shafts)
...a chunky set and a lean set :)

oh yeah, Dave! I was an honest-to-God card-carrying pro, but that was 10 yrs ago...I'd hit 2-3 tourneys/week. wasn't that great, not good enough to travel...but I'd make about 10k/yr at it. any hobby that makes money instead of spending it is good in my book.... took to much time and you're stuck in dives all day though. tell ya what though, Brad Wethington is a local boy to my area, and the guy has only every beaten me once. Finals of a blind-draw tourney, and it was basically me vs him. Out-threw him, but he got me last turn. my partner couldn't hit a bull. I needed 1 to his 5. The guy came up and hit (3) double bulls. rat farts! He is currently ranked #3 in the US, btw

ah, I like thinner darts. Got a set of 20 weight black widows that I can use either steel or soft tips. (Too many leagues and tourneys are soft to not get in on it)

I prefer my 23's, but they're steel only. Had em so long, I forgot what the brand is. I wanna say it was a snake-sounding name. Originally, I had Skinnies, but they were stolen. And I use a practice board at home(doubles and trip's are half-sized).

Wow! Yeah...I'm not even close to the same league. Rec only here, no tournaments. Just playing around with friends for free drinks :)

I prefer thinner too, but heavier. My Bottelsens are 9/32 barrel but 28 weight. I use the long shafts to put heavier flights on further back to keep it balanced the way I like. I start with them and if I'm struggling, I drop back to the Red Dragons. Still pretty thin, but 30 weight and short so the weight is more forward.

Black Widows (like you) are several levels above. Free drinks and friendly side-action doesn't buy the fancy darts :)

Unfortunately, my current primary hobby is spend-not-make :(

got 2 pair of black widows... apparently they make a "red" widows now. kinda been out of it for a bit, but I saw a set. the guy sucked, but I did like his darts.

I had to go light with the interchange-able set. technically, 18's are the highest weight allowed in a soft tourney. no one checks and 20's seemed to me a happy medium. unless it's obvious. I prefer heavier also....stay straight and true, least motion possible and let the dart find it's own way home. can't do that with soft. gotta be balance and follow through. never take your eye off the prize. you know before you release if it hits or not. forget the last throw. keep the head still and adjust from the last one. feel the subtleties of it all without even looking to see what the last one hit exactly. release earlier, follow through longer, etc. if you're not "feelin' it", feed directly off the last dart and find a rhythm.

that's probably a better approach than my "point at the board menacingly, rock back on my heels, hop-lunge and throw so it sticks real good, sometimes sidearm to show the board you mean business!" method?
