It's hard to tell what I'm looking at. At the top it looks like a microfiche reader, with a poorly-constructed brick wall on the monitor. Samara (from The Ring) is at the lower right, about to enter the screen, or maybe just crawling out.

Am I close?

It's an auto-cue. It feeds lines to news anchors and on-air speech-makers.

It uses a half-silvered mirror to reflect the text to the orator. The camera recording them looks through the other side of the mirror so that it looks like the speaker is looking directly at the viewer.
