Puzzle Description:

Farmer Giles of Ham by JRR Tolkien was published in 1949.

Even though it was published in 1949, Tolkien wrote the book in 1937. So you could say it is 82 years old.

The picture is from the Swedish version titled "Gillis Bonde från Ham" (1970) and illustrated by Rolf Lagerson

After Line and Color Logic leaves only a small area of red at the top,

Edge logic 3 r1 places it.
LL

The 3 in c21 can only go in two places, r4-6 or r7-9. In both of those places, it will force c20r7 to be red.
LL

Two-way logic on the 2 in c18: In both places, c19r4 must be white.
LL to finish

Gosh! I'll have to see if my husband has read this. Tolkien is one of his favorites! (You're sure that isn't St. George?)

St George, ofc....Tolkien took a lot from a lot of sources. But he put his own spin on it. Man, I wish I could find the book I originally read, but a lot of stuff got sloshed around after Dad died. I'm betting lil bro Jeff has it. Tolkien was serious when he had to be, and took inspiration from the Edda and a whole lot more. He was a historian in his own right. But he was also a sarcastic bastard. His early stuff is lost on us, but he threw names in there to belittle certain ppl. The guy was very much political. And analytical. When he went for the big deal legacy novels that you know him for, he played it cool. Not so before that. He was a sh**-disturber. Anyhoo, I'd love to see how the movie ppl proceed. The Simmarillion could be epic!
