Puzzle Description:

"Real Tennis" is played in an actual court with balls made of cork.

This is is what tennis evolved from. It is played in a court that is like a medieval courtyard with galleries on both ends and one side which have playable roofs. In fact, there seems to be no "out of bounds".

Eventually people played a simpler game outside to have fun. Then the fun game became a sport called "lawn tennis". Then Lawn Tennis became more popular and eventually when you said "tennis" you meant "lawn tennis". And so the original "tennis" got called "court tennis", "royal tennis", and more recently "real tennis"

The scoring of points is obscure and complex. Here is a video showing some play:

I would be a poor candidate for "real tennis". I would never be able to remember all the rules.

I hadn't heard the "real tennis" term before. Thanks for the history!!

(as a tennis coach, I should've known all this ...)

Perfect image, and so fun how it solved circularly. And I learned something new... again. :-)
