I just recently did puzzle #6799. Jan's comment (#7) wasn't totally accurate. This puzzle isn't that crappy :D

Sounds familiar. We had one with a choice of wide/narrow paddles, fast/slow ball speed, and straighter/oblique bounce angles. My brother and I would play where we each got to control one of these extra controls. Making the ball go slow when it was coming at you and then fast when it was going toward your oppenent was the most useful control, but turning your opponents paddle from wide to narrow just as he was about to hit the ball was also a serious hazard.
