Honey

After ll/cl gets all the blue, the lower left can be finished with a couple adv. logic moves:

Edge logic on the 4 in r25: were it to start in c2, it would trigger the 4 in that column, which would take up the 1 in r24. This would leave no room for the bottom 1 in c6. So r25c2 must be white.
LL
Again, el 4 r25: if it were to go right into c8, there would be no room for the 1 in r23. So r25c8 is white.
LL
Note that the bottom 1 in c3 must be in r23 or r24. So,if the 4 in c2 were to go down to r24 there would b no room for that 1. So c2r24 must be white.
LL to finish.

Toughie for me, but well worth it. Wonderful image.

Fantastic. Thank you.

Great image, and I loved that last little tricky bit of logic.

Oh wow! Wicked tricky solve, but such a great image. So satisfying.

Some may call her Queenie. :)

It took a lot of careful counting, but I knew the result would be worth all the bother. I love her expression!

I know what's been said about symmetry logic- that's it's sort of cheating- but I say if it helps you see that the black making up the right wing is likely a mirror image of the tricky left wing, take a chance on symmetry logic! If the human brain has that capability at our disposal, why limit ourselves to not using it?
By the way, cute bee. ^-^

Great puzzle Joe and love the title

Really great picture. It could even be a logo - if you were infrapinkbee.

Thanks, everyone.

Aurelian, if you'd been around longer, you'd know that my puzzle is one of the worst places to promote guessing. My purpose in solving puzzles is to never change a single mark I make to a puzzle. Pattern recognition is a great ability of the human mind, but it also makes us see babies and turtles in clouds. It makes a flicker in the corner of our eye into a ghost.

Logic is also a great ability of the human mind. This is what lets me finish puzzles without any changes. That is my goal, not just getting to the picture, but thinking my way through every step so that I KNOW that it is the correct move.

So far as we know, symmetry logic probably holds if ALL the clues are symmetrical and there is only one solution. In that case, using symmetry is considered "cheating" only because there is no actual proof that it is true, just empirical evidence. (Also it's boring.)

In this case, however, there is no symmetry logic, just picture "logic". And that is exactly where our brains like to make men or rabbits in the moon.

Honestly, I haven't looked at this puzzle in a while, But I had already changed my viewpoint about symmetry since completing it. I have also improved greatly at my pure logic skills in the meantime. So, Joe, I completely agree with you, and I like your points about seeing shapes in clouds and faces and rabbits in the moon. And also, I agree with you that symmetry solving is boring. ;p

Very nice picture, and enjoyable, if very tricky, solve!!

terrific. solved by logic.

I totally love your brain! This is an awesome puzzle. Had to work at it but that is what I love. Thanks!!!!
