Puzzle Description:

3D glasses. In my opinion, they make movies rather annoying to watch.

I kinda agree.

Expecting some preachy, moralizing message about sex or violence, get this instead. This is much better! Makes me smile, good one!
#3: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 29, 2011
I totally agree,in fact give me a good old black and white anytime.Cool puzzle Emily.
#4: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Sep 29, 2011
I was wondering how you would portray "sucky remakes," but this is much better. :)

Nice puzzle and I do not like the trend either.
#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Sep 29, 2011
Or "sucky sequels"
#7: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Sep 30, 2011 [SPOILER]
Nice job Emily. I agree too...especially since I wear glasses already. So having 3D glass on top of my glasses is most annoying!

I thought the glasses would be a pain, too. However, I found that they work fine for me even over my regular glasses. The lenses are oversized enough that they are larger than my own lenses (which are not the tiny ones that are in style now.)

The IMax goggles are even better. They fit completely over the outside of normal glasses.

As for the 3-D effect, I used to get headaches with both the red-blue of my early childhood, and the (straight)polarized of my later childhood. The current circular-polarized is much better, only getting a bit choppy in very fast pans. I'm quite happy with it.

For someone who's always wanted to ride a dragon, Avatar in 3-D was incredible. (I mean visually, not in terms of scripting...) Coraline and UP! were also enhanced by being in 3-D.

This too shall pass. I agree!

It's a great trend. And there's always a 2D version at the same time, so those who don't enjoy 3D can enjoy the movie in their preferred format, instead of whining about a trend no one's forcing you to sit through.

I don't go to the movies very much, so I have only seen one such movie -- and that was perhaps 30 years ago, when 3D glasses were a novelty. Although I was very impressed by the illusion created, I wondered what would happen if I took the glasses off. I did, and all of the characters that were just inches from me faded into the distance. I put the glasses back on and the characters jumped out of the screen and into the theater. So, it is just as Tom said.

My family enjoys watching certain types of movies in 3D, but we have a few friends who are prone to motion sickness, so we choose the 2D showing whenever we watch movies together.
The current school of thought is not that the images jump out at you, but that you become immersed in the environment.
