Deep edge logic on the 5 in c4, then line logic to finish.#2: Avgvstvs (Avgvstvs) on May 24, 2011 [HINT]
No guessing required. You can see the first 3 on R14, if placed in R12-14, will create a contradiction between the 3's on both R12 and R14. This is equivalent to say you just need to do edge logic of that 3 in R12-14, much easier than the edge logic on the 5 in C4, in my opinion.#3: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on May 25, 2011 [HINT]
There are four 3x5 undesignated rectangles. one has a total of 8 black squares (and the other has 11). Since the adjacent clues add up to 8 in R9-R14 match up to C3-C5, it is lower left (and 11 adjacent in...)#4: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on May 26, 2011 [HINT]
I like the puzzle very much.
Thanks, Brian. And your logic adds up!#5: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Feb 10, 2021
A very nice application of summing logic.
Very odd.#6: Yonah Kondor (yokon965) on Feb 10, 2021
LOL I've yet to figure out that language... While I work on that, what am I looking at in the image here??#7: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 10, 2021 [SPOILER]
It's a PBN puzzle. The little green dots show which row & column you're on, and the tip of the cursor is about to click in that square. Note the dot in the next cell, to denote a blank space. It's meta-minimal.#8: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Feb 10, 2021
Very nice puzzle. The image, of course, is ok, but then, I don't think you were going for spectacular looks. The solve, though... that bit at the end called for a not-so-frequently used solving technique.#9: Yonah Kondor (yokon965) on Feb 11, 2021
@3: This is exactly what I did, too! It just made the most sense to me as the easiest solution. I still don't have a grasp of deep lookahead because I can't keep track of that many steps in my head yet. But I can count real good.
@KC OF COURSE! How did I not see that??? :)#10: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 11, 2021
hindsight is 20/20 :)#11: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Aug 4, 2022
