Huh.

Um?

Actually, I was kidding with my bemused first post. Although I'm not *quite* sure I get it, the little red square did make me grin.

what is this supposed to be

I get it but sorry no blue square, not even a real image

the challenge of this one is to be able to create a "regular" image that included a blue square in it in one way or the other

it's a thinker for sure. there are, in actuality, three blue squares that meet the requirements of the challenge. they are located in the A's of the text (it's why they were done that way rather than tapering...the rest of the text was done blocky to match the style).

qwerty, what are you quoting there with the word "regular"? that world doesn't appear in the WCP description at all. you said "conceptual art". shouldn't the fact that mine makes you think add a little to the "art" part of it? simply parodying a famous work of art by adding a blue square is fun and good for a smile but, in my opinion, not very "conceptual".

more complete analysis to follow...

ok maybe your rigth let accept this one in

Probably my fault in explaning the contest, guess I'll have to be clearer next time.

I did love your puzzle I was not sure if it really fit in with the theme but I consider your analise to be rigth so its in good luck

so here you have a square. he's red, not blue...so from the beginning he is an antogonist to the expected. add to that the text (blue text) which claims he is violent...or at least more violent than the blue squares...plural. so there you have your first hint that there are more than one blue squares. that, coupled with the requirements for the challenge, might lead you to search for and discover that there are, in fact, three blue squares. they are the same size as red, but hollow (maybe that center square is where he stores his violence?).

Title. "Out-Numbered"...well look at that, he sure is. Three blues to one red.

Description. a short poem that sums up the situation. Must contain a blue square, does contain a blue square, three of them not just one, but as you can see from the puzzle text that even though he's out-numbered, his violent tendencies are apparently enough that he will emerge victorious.

(Note also the positioning of the text and it's A's with relation to the red square. I placed him where i did in a three-on-one impending-fight composition with red backed up to the one side.)

i'm not claiming it is intuitive or that it makes a lot of sense or that i was very successful at layering the concepts...but it is, at the very least, an attempt at "conceptual art" and is, most definitely, not an attempt at a "regular" image.
#10: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Apr 15, 2011
That *is* quite a concept! (Careful what you say about the folks who just stuck a blue square on an existing painting ;)
#11: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Apr 15, 2011
"fun and good for a smile"? ;)
#12: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Apr 15, 2011
i actually really like those that i've seen that do that (like your's), but got a little defensive because mine was being dismissed.

apparently i just missed the point, which i guess was the blue square is the concept and putting it in art is conceptual art...rather than create conceptual art. i was thrown by the fact that art was a big part of my college studies and such an assignment isn't realistic...maybe the WCP assignment itself is conceptual art?

We know red is more violent than blue, but what about black and green... what's the color order of violence?
---
Maybe conceptual art and conceptual art puzzles just don't mix. In conceptual art, there is no "image quality"!

Robert Frost might disagree with you. :) "...ice is just as great, and would suffice."

Not a 100% Tom, but very responsible of my judge duties :-)
#19: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Apr 29, 2011
not much to judge of late

art is no stranger to controversy :)
