What's up with the green and red squares?
#3: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 2, 2011 [SPOILER]
They are background orthogonal rhomboids whose purpose is to ensure logical solvability.

(A Trigonal Trapezohedron can also be called a rhombohedron, and this one in particular an Orthogonal Rhombohedron.)

bugaboo - thanks!

Thanks, Kristen.
There is an amazing number of synonyms for cube. Deltohedron, Parallelepiped and Rectangular Prism are other shapes of which the cube is a special case. Some links:

My father was a mineralogist who specialized in crystals for his hobby, so I knew most of these off the top of my head. I'd never heard of the title and "deltohedron" before, so I figured it was a good bet that most other people wouldn't have either.

All in all, the cube is to DIE for.

Great puzzle! I'm very impressed how the color logic slowly unfolded to allow the puzzle to be solvable.

My spouse saw the picture and said "That's a Ferris Wheel!"
