Puzzle Description:
Ian McKellen, who portrays Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Bob thinks he recognizes the big star, but wonders if it really can be him! Explanation in comments.

As Sylvain has mentioned, Bob is a big fan of Lord of the Rings. When he and Kate were in New Zealand, Bob wanted to go visit the movie set called "Hobbiton." But after hearing about the earthquake in Christchurch, they decided to go volunteer to help that community.#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on Mar 8, 2011 [HINT]
Lo and behold, they find themselves working alongside the stars of the new movie "The Hobbit" which was to start shooting this week. Producer Peter Jackson decided they could delay the shoot in order to help out in the Christchurch community.
Gandalf will also be guest umpire at a cricket match this Sunday in Wellington to help raise funds for the community.
Of course, Bob is making a financial contribution to the clean-up efforts, as well as volunteering his time.

when i got "stuck" i just found that an lls dot needed to go at row 38 column 17 and then it solved easily
