Puzzle Description:

This is one of twelve "demon statues" at the Bangkok airport. The diagonals are window panes, the green things are plants, and the bottom is a design on the floor. These statues are considered unlucky and as such are going to be moved from the arrival area to the check-in area. Link in comments.

The 12 "demon statues" are being moved away from the arrival area because shop keepers there complained that the statues are to blame for all the bad luck they have had since the statues were constructed, including the protest that closed the airport for 8 days a few years ago.

The 12 statues represent guardian spirits and are modeled after statues at the Grand Palace.

Weirdness. I kept trying to decide whether it was an alien craft or a strange insect before I saw your explanation and link! Very enjoyable solve.

T... hugggssss for your lost there in Tucson .... I'm sure Gabby was a comfort & help for you.
#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 9, 2011
Thanks, Tom. Both Gabby and Ron Barber (her chief of staff who also was shot as he was standing right next to her) are personal friends. I'm very concerned at this point for them both.

Very neat image and history! I found the perspective difficult to see, but that didn't detract from the fun or beauty.

I, too, wish the best of recovery for your friends.

Pues la estatua traerá mala suerte, pero es muy bonita.

Gracias, Julio.

The link no longer works, and I can't find any images like the one you described. The statuary in the Bangkok airport is now representational of gods battling a serpent.
