Puzzle Description:

Buffy's scythe. This is my first puzzle. I hope it's acceptable and not too nerdy!

Very nice! And quite hard, I thought.

I've kind of missed the last ten years or so of television, including all of Buffy. So I have no idea what the thing in the lower right corner is, or why an ax is being called a scythe. Setting aside these little issues of personal ignorance, however, this is a very nice puzzle. At first glance it looks completely unsolvable, but there is always a narrow path forward. A lot of fun to solve.

That's actually just a "B" from the show's logo. I had to add it to make it solvable. It was my first puzzle, and I didn't want to give up on it! And they called it a scythe in the show. Thanks for the nice comments!

Scythes curve the other way with the cutting edge on the inside of the curve. They are tools for cutting grass. I defy Buffy or anyone else to mow a lawn with the device pictured here. On the other hand, I don't suppose an actual scythe would work all that well for dispatching vampires. Outside of the occasional peasant revolt, when waving scythes and pitchforks in the air is always good for dramatic effect, I think only Death ever uses one as a weapon.

This is an excellent first puzzle, it was very tricky and I didnt know what it was until I had finished, well done!!! :)
#6: Twillis (twillis) on Oct 27, 2007 [SPOILER]
The smart thing to do would be to trick the vampires into mowing your lawn. Then, when the sun comes out, Zap! Two problems solved at once.

Too bad the show is off the air, I could make a million dollars selling that plot idea. Except I guess I would have to split it with Jan.

Thanks for the puzzle.

OK, I give up. How *do* you trick vampires into mowing your lawn?
#8: Robert Kummerfeldt (rmkummerfeldt) on Sep 24, 2007
By offering them tomato juice to do it, of course!!

Arduinna! I missed your first puzzle! And it's such a good one too.
This was a nice challenge. I'm aware of the show but not too familiar. I didn't recognize the scythe until I was finished. Very fun. I like the logo "B" in the corner too.

Belated congratulations on posting your first puzzle. I'm very happy that you kept on creating because your puzzles are so fun.
Thank you! ^v^

Lol Robert :)

Thanks, Gyps! I've been working some of your earlier work as well. I notice it's been MONTHS since you've published a puzzle! tsk, tsk!

I'm too busy catching up on solving. :D

Arduinna I came across your first puzzle! Have no idea what it is, never saw that show but loved solving it. Thanks!
#13: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jan 5, 2009 [SPOILER]
Apparently it's an ax! Thanks!

Hooray a buffy puzzle!

I love your nerdiness!
#16: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 27, 2017
Not sure why they called it a scythe, when it's clearly a poleaxe. :)
#17: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 27, 2017 [SPOILER]
Don't the Poleaxes own the Minnesota Twins?
