Puzzle Description:

Bob & Kate and a Chianti

#1: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 1, 2010 [HINT]

Starts with edge logic on the 11 in column 1
#2: Gator (Gator) on Dec 1, 2010 [HINT]
Color/line logic will get this one done.

I solved it a second time with the edge logic, and it went a lot faster.

Nice puzzle.
#3: Billie Patterson (bpat) on Dec 1, 2010
Good job.
#4: Michele (michiekay) on Dec 1, 2010
Elegant.
#5: Jota (jota) on Dec 1, 2010 [SPOILER]
That;s for a delicious entry! They deserve a toast!
#6: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Dec 1, 2010
the glass can be viewed two ways depending on if you are looking from an angle down or from an angle up

i first saw it the wrong way (looking down)and it looked like the wine was on the wrong sides of both lips of the glass and then i looked at the image the other way (looking up) and it was perfectly placed wine

very nice job conzick
#7: Byrdie (byrdie) on Dec 1, 2010 [HINT]
I solved with straight line and color logic throughout.

Beaautiful puzzle. I really enjoyed this one.
#8: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 2, 2010
cheers!
#9: Johanna Bousfield (lucy) on Dec 2, 2010 [SPOILER]
I don't have a vote but I'm submitting a standing ovation with this one. You can hear the wine pouring in the glass.
#10: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Dec 3, 2010
ditto#9 and kai - all you get from me is "wow"...and a 5 rating! this is on my list of favorites.
#11: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 3, 2010 [SPOILER]
Check out puzzle #7875 (a fantastic puzzle, by the way) for a very similar theme.
#12: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Dec 3, 2010 [SPOILER]
Wonderful image! I never would have thought to show how liquid flows in a glass.
#13: Kadou (Kadou) on Dec 5, 2010 [SPOILER]
A few drops missing... :)

Beautiful image and fun solve. Amazing how your captured the fluidity so perfectly.

Good title too.

"Know your limits." Recommended limits (according to the US Food and Drug Administration): One glass (5 oz.) for a woman, two glasses for a man. Unless, of course, there is any chance Kate could be pregnant. Then of course, the safe amount for her is zero.

Sorry, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to share a prevention message. :-)
#15: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 6, 2010 [SPOILER]
You're right, Teresa. And there IS a chance of being pregnant, cause it's the honeymoon. Let's imagine it's tomato juice.
#16: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Dec 6, 2010 [SPOILER]
thanks for entry, Kai...luv chianti
Teresa, its now 2 glasses for women :)
#17: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 6, 2010 [SPOILER]
How about sparkling cranberry juice, Kai? It looks just like wine and is so refreshing. :-)

Sorry, Tom, I think you may be misinformed. The US federal government guidelines about alcohol consumption are posted here:
http://www.health.gov/DIETARYGUIDELINES/dga2005/document/html/chapter9.htm

Key Recommendations:

* Those who choose to drink alcoholic beverages should do so sensibly and in moderation—defined as the consumption of up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.

* Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed by some individuals, including those who cannot restrict their alcohol intake, women of childbearing age who may become pregnant, pregnant and lactating women, children and adolescents, individuals taking medications that can interact with alcohol, and those with specific medical conditions.

* Alcoholic beverages should be avoided by individuals engaging in activities that require attention, skill, or coordination, such as driving or operating machinery.

Absolutely marvelous depiction of an adult beverage; seeing Kadou's link, I find myself thinking that I don't care if a few drops are missing, this still looks delightful. So far in my offline solving (I do this for bigger puzzles), this is easily the contest winner for this period even with some time left.
#19: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 9, 2010
wow, Cyclone! thank you!
#20: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Dec 12, 2010
congrats Kai...the wine won :)
#21: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Dec 12, 2010
much congratulations to you, kai. so well deserved :-)
#22: (Private) (Cyclone) on Dec 12, 2010
Agreed, I've now solved the rest (except the last entry which came after I printed), and this still wins for me. Glad the judges and I agree on this one. =)
#23: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 13, 2010
thank you all! Cheers!
#24: Byrdie (byrdie) on Dec 13, 2010
Glad I'm not a judge. Having to choose between the pure artfullness (is that a word?!) of this puzzle and the raw emotion in the pieta would've broken me.
#25: Jota (jota) on Dec 13, 2010
Believe it Martin it's hard, we get broken and then we reinvent ourselves. I'm serious this time.
#26: (Private) (Cyclone) on Dec 13, 2010
I have solved all in this contest but one (the last one since it came after my second run of printing). This was the easy winner for me, I wasn't broken at all in that decision. =)

Of course, if the other you mention is that last puzzle I haven't seen yet, I'll have to add the print to my WC#74 solving. Which I'm doing in any case.

Very nice quality image.
#28: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Jul 22, 2012

#29: Ki Bitzar (kibitzar) on Jun 30, 2018
