Puzzle Description:

2600 was a common rallying name for hackers on the web 1.0. There were many newsgroups like alt.rec.2600 or the like. They were dedicated to hacking, or the use of technology for things beyond what it was designed for.

I recently solved my 1,337th puzzle. http://postimage.org/image/1a2ug965g/

Leetspeak was a common form of hacker sub-culture writing on Web 1.0. Letters were often replaced with numbers and symbols. Thus 1337 = leet (which meant "elite"). It was, like all slang, a good way to keep out the uninitiated.

While leetspeak really came after my period of hacker-ship, I was indeed a hacker in my youth, programming z80s in assembly. At one point after programming too long for far too many days, I started dreaming in code. That was very odd.

lol Joe I don't know if I should admit to having that issue a time or two as well. Guess it's good to know we're not alone!

God bless Lisbeth Salander!

Galaxy, is that Leetspeek?

Great puzzle, Joe. I enjoyed the solve and the explanation.

Jota, I am not familiar with the name Lisbeth Salander, so I looked her up - literary heroine. I've been debating whether to buy and read the Millenium Triology. Do you recommend it?

great puzzle. Yes, Teresa, you should read the Millenium Triology. I've only read the first 2. I really enjoyed the books.

It's very engaging, a great story with an unlikely heroin. I had a fun time reding it.

Found to be logically solvable by Gator.

"I started dreaming in code."

Don't all programmers do this at some point?

Don't really understand the image. Is it a logo?

Great puzzle. I guess you dream what occupies your time. In college I had a roommate who was a music major and played piano and french horn. I was awakened by her, one night, yelling, "Now trans pose it into B flat." with a big emphasis on the b.
