what a thrill it must be to soar to those heights.

I didn't have to guess. Nice challenge.#2: Jota (jota) on Aug 27, 2010

Just because I had difficulty solving this with color logic alone (I got stuck with the blue in C7-C12 and had to go several steps ahead to eliminate pixels for the placement of the 4 in C7), could someone who didn't resort to something like that share a more elegant solution?#5: Gator (Gator) on Aug 30, 2010 [HINT]
I liked the final image...simple, yet effective.
I used edge logic to make R11C7, R20C7 and R13C12 dots, but this didn't help much.#6: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Aug 30, 2010 [HINT]
I then looked at the 4 clue in column 7. Looking at all possibilities (there are only 3 that do not immediately make column 8 invalid) on how this affects column 8, we can see that in each case R11C8 will be a dot. Also we can see that R13C8 will always be blue.
I then looked at all of the possibilities in column 12. In every case, R17C12 and R18C12 are always dots.
That's all I have for now. Am I missing something Brian?
My solution didn't require guessing. once the green columns were done(c3 & c18), finding the four blues in c7 that made c8 work out was easy. then everything else fell into place. I really don't know why this puzzle is classified as some guessing. I just solved it a second time to check.#7: Gator (Gator) on Aug 31, 2010 [HINT]
There are 3 possible places that the 4 clue can go: R12C7-R15C7, R13C7-R16C7, or R16C7-R19C7. It took looking 4 moves ahead to see that it cannot go in the top position. It also takes looking 4 moves ahead to see that the middle one will not work. Looking 4 moves ahead is considered guessing.#8: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Aug 31, 2010
I suppose I do stuff by brute force. Trial and Error is considered guessing too.#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 4, 2010
Nice image and fun to solve. Although I did have to resort to guessing at the end.#10: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 13, 2010

Found to be solvable with deep lookahead by gator.#12: Gator (gator) on Jul 29, 2012
Re-classified.#13: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 21, 2012
I would've called this moderate lookahead. It was fairly standard color logic until you get to the blue, and then it's doable with edge logic on the blue.#14: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Oct 11, 2017
It was cool to see a ! by the puzzle, to signify deep lookahead :)
For some reason this reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Asxr5v9arH4#15: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Oct 11, 2017
Remember it?
Great action!#16: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Oct 11, 2017
I did have to guess on the blue 4 but otherwise I found it very doable and quite impressive for such a small puzzle. Great job.#17: Jill Tallmer (Yidl) on Oct 3, 2018
